International Study Tours

Hands-on learning for international student groups in the pet-care and dog-training industry

Course Overview

The Pet Industry College delivers one-day, practical study tours for international student groups focused on animal welfare, first aid, and dog training — with the option to extend into specialised working-dog disciplines such as assistance, detector, and scent-detection dogs.

These tours are purpose-built for education travel companies and international colleges seeking genuine, skills-based exposure to Australia’s world-class animal-care and training standards. Students work alongside experienced professionals in operational training and welfare facilities — not demonstrations, but true hands-on learning in real settings.

1-Day Program Options

Select the Program That Best Suits Your Group

International study groups can choose from two options, each designed to provide a hands-on experience in the Australian animal care and training industry. Both options include a comprehensive induction, practical rotations through two key learning modules, a group debrief session, and a Certificate of Participation issued by The Pet Industry College upon completion.

Option A:

Animal Care, Welfare & First Aid + Dog Training & Behaviour

This program offers a balanced introduction to both animal care practices and dog behaviour fundamentals.

Perfect for groups seeking a broad understanding of how animal care and training work together in real-world settings.

Participants will explore:

  • Safe and ethical animal handling techniques

  • Core principles of animal welfare and health management

  • Essential pet first aid skills used in professional care environments

  • Practical foundations in dog training, behaviour, and positive reinforcement

Option B:

Dog Training & Behaviour + Specialised Dog Training

This advanced pathway focuses on developing a deeper understanding of canine behaviour, learning theory, and advanced training methods.

Ideal for groups with a strong interest in professional dog training or those wanting to experience the practical side of Australia’s animal training industry.

Participants will explore:

  • Behavioural assessment and communication cues

  • Advanced obedience and enrichment strategies

  • Techniques used in professional and specialised dog training programs

Learning Outcomes for Each Module
